Privacy In A Grey Divorce

Privacy In A Grey Divorce

The decision to dissolve a marriage is a significant one, as this requires legal action. For those with years of marriage under their belt, divorce can be more stressful for a number of reasons. Grey divorce refers to a separation that occurs after the age of sixty. This situation has its own particular set of intricacies, so stick with legal counsel with your best in mind.

Set aside some time to speak about your options with the offices of Charles & Concilio, LLC in Greenwich, CT. For some, a legal separation might have benefits to your familial life and allow you to revisit your situation. Discuss your particular needs with your legal team, as every client requires their own dedicated approach. We can work with you to reach a positive outcome in your Connecticut divorce. Privacy can be a struggle when there are grown children and grandchildren involved, so allow us to be a helping hand, free of judgement.

Make A Decision With A Working Knowledge Of Your Options

The process of divorce in Connecticut has its own set of rules that differ from every other state. Speak with a trusted lawyer about your specific situation and describe what a positive resolution looks like for you. Having goals in mind can be helpful to figure out your plan forward. Divorce can be a ride of emotions, so writing own your intent can allow you to make more rational decisions for your future.

For those over the age of sixty, additional negotiations may need to occur to handle your financial affairs. Even after the children have grown, there are still matters to be discussed between you and your spouse. The state of Connecticut recognizes all property to be collectively owned, so all assets and debts are to be divided. If you and your former partner cannot come to an agreement, a judge will determine an equitable distribution of what you own.

A Legal Process, Despite Years Of Emotion

For older clients, the separation of a familial bond can have significant effects on other people. You may have adult children who have known their parents as a couple for their entire lives. This is not always an easy process for them, and they have kids of their own.

In these instances, you may opt for a legal separation in lieu of a divorce. This method allows you to remain married according to the state, and there are other situations where this can benefit you. Talk with your lawyer about every possibility available to you.
